Grids vs. Backup
Generators

A nanogrid is comprised of on-site power generation that feeds one user or off-taker. A microgrid is an on-site power generation system that serves multiple off-takers or users. In each scenario, GRIDIRON’s PowerPlants can serve as the sole source of power generation or in conjunction with other sources like renewables, battery storage and conventional backup generators.

Unlike a backup generator, PowerPlant is your primary power source and runs continuously to produce electricity and heat fueled by clean natural gas, renewable natural gas, or propane. GRIDIRON engines are purposely built for continuous CHP (combined heat and power) operations with minimum service required. The micro combined heat and power units (mCHP) produce electricity to power your business, while captured heat gets repurposed for hot water, hot air, or other processes requiring heat.
